Kathleen Kuo

Designer, Intern Architect

Kat Kuo

Kathleen Kuo received her Doctor of Architecture degree in May 2008 from School of Architecture at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. As a student she served as President and Vice President of the American Institute of Architecture Students Hawaii Chapter. She also traveled to various countries, resided in Taipei and New York City for her practicum, and received two Awards of Excellence from the American Institute of Architects Hawaii Chapter Student Design Awards and the Taiwanese American Association Hawaii Chapter. Kathleen's final doctorial project addressed the homelessness issue in Hawaii, and helped define her career goal to be a community-based architect focusing on affordable and transitional housing solutions.

Outside of the office Kathleen loves to travel with the goal of filling up her passport before it expires. So far she has ventured to Japan, Hong Kong, Tahiti, China, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, England, Texas, and Washington DC. Along with traveling she likes to try new things, recently pursuing the art of surfing and rock climbing. Other hobbies include hiking, knitting, printmaking, and fiber arts. She is the proud owner of a cocker spaniel named Leo (after DaVinci) who has taught her to live a more simple life by shredding her personal belongings.
