Wes Deguchi has been a practicing architect for 35 years. His professional knowledge covers a vast range of experience, from conceptual design through construction. He has been involved in a wide variety of projects, large and small, including high rise residential condominiums, commercial offices, retail outlets, educational facilities, resort hotels and government buildings. He has traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, working on projects in China, Japan, Thailand and the Philippines.
As an architect, Wes' career has been focused on striving for design excellence in architecture. He has had the distinct privilege of designing a number of notable high rise projects in Honolulu such as Keola Lai, Hawaiki Tower, Waikiki Landmark, Liliuokalani Gardens,and Tokai University Building. Other completed project types include the Sheraton Resort Hotel on Kauai, the Wack Wack Golf Clubhouse in the Philippines and the Pudong Customs Office Building in China.
Wes has also had many enriching life experiences. He is the father of twin girls that he calls his “million dollar babies” referring to the cost of the hospital expenses when they were born. He grew up on a coffee farm and was a member of a rock band as a teenager and even caught a 530 pound marlin while fishing. He taught a class at the UH, School of Architecture for eight years, and is a three time finisher of the Dick Evans Memorial Bike Race, a 112 mile race around Oahu.
