About the Project
Media5 has completed preliminary designs for three rail transit stations for the Honolulu High-Capacity Transit Corridor Project (HHCTCP). The future location of these stations is at Pearl Harbor, Pearl Ridge, and Aloha Stadium. They are all designed to blend with the surrounding architecture and transport high volumes of people with maximum efficiency.
These stations were designed as part of the preliminary architectural design for EIS preparation and will eventually be constructed. The Aloha Stadium station will be built below the tracks, allowing for a fully-functional station that uses the least amount of real estate. The Pearlridge station design incorporates elements from the surrounding buildings, highlighting the transition from agriculture to urbanization and modernization. There are the expansive views from Pearlridge to Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial, two iconographic historical sites associated with the modern history of Hawaii. The open nature of the station’s vertical transport, mezzanine, and platform areas encourages appreciation of these historic views.
