About the Project
Media5 Architecture recently completed the design of an office and storage/maintenance facility for First Wind Kahuku to ensure on-going production of the wind farm. This 7,000 sq ft building holds 2,560 sq ft of office space and 4,188 sq ft of warehouse space for an electrical yard and equipment storage. Also included in the scope of work is the addition of 20 ground-level parking stalls and other site improvements.
This project broke ground on July 13, 2010 to celebrate the beginning of construction on the 30 MW Kahuku Wind project in Kahuku, which includes the 7,000 sq ft Operations and Maintenance Building designed by Media5 Architecture. The ceremony brought together state and local political officials, environmental agencies and members of the local community. Once completed, First Wind Kahuku will have the capacity generate an estimated 80,000 megawatt hours each year - enough clean, wind energy to power approximately 7,700 Oahu homes reducing the carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 96 million pounds annually.
This project is currently under construction.
